This exceptional piece of work which premiered at Laban theatre is awash with intricate grace and artistry. It is also a homage to Seva’s martial arts heroes, with nods to Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, Monkey in The Journey To The West, Ang Lee’s balletic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and the wit found in any Jackie Chan movie. Seva’s vision was wonderfully brought to life by dancers Victoria Shulungu, Shangomola Edunjobi, Ezra Owen, Joshua Nash, Jordan Douglas, Christina Dion, Angelica Brewster, Ayten Goksan and Anmol Kaur. And it was given added layers of mood, meaning and emotion by Anthony Hateley’s glorious lighting and a soundtrack by Torben Lars Sylvest featuring electronica, taiko drums and, best of all, Tuvan throat-singers. Brilliant.
